WALSH Trust is a well-established and respected provider of community mental health services. Our Older Adults service based in Te Atatu South provides intensive residential support for up to six months for older adults experiencing mental illness. Our work is grounded in Te Whare Tapa Wha and the Strengths Model to provide holistic person-centred support.  

We are seeking a mental health support worker who is looking for an interesting and varied position to work full time rostered shifts (at the moment 7am-3.30pm or 3pm-11.30pm Monday to Sunday) working an average of 40 hours per week. The hourly rate for the role is between $23.38 to $29.10 as per the Pay Equity settlement for Mental Health and Support Workers.  

 This job could be for you if you: 

  • Have experience and/or qualifications in mental health (New Zealand Certificate in Health and Well-Being (Mental Health and Addictions) Level 4) or equivalent qualification.
  • Have the ability to work with diverse cultures.
  • Work collaboratively with whanau/family. 
  • Are flexible, adaptable, competent, reliable, forward thinking and a team player.
  • Can demonstrate initiative and problem-solving skills.
  • Are naturally encouraging and have a non-judgmental attitude.
  • Can take responsibility for yourself.
  • Have a passion and energy to contribute to the mental health sector.
  • Have a full, current, clean New Zealand driver’s licence.

This is a practical role that can include a range of tasks and duties to support wellbeing. We have a diverse team of registered health professionals and mental health support workers, each bringing something different to the team.
